Speak Up

Your voice is powerful.

Use it to fight for CT’s youth!

Sharing your perspective can shape policy and influence the future of youth justice in CT. We have guidance below on making an impact by submitting legislative testimony, participating in a CTJA Vision Session, and getting in touch with your elected officials.

This is how we close the distance between policymakers and the people their decisions most affect.

Submitting Testimony 101

FAQs

What is testimony?

When policymakers are deciding whether to pass a bill, they often hold meetings (hearings) to invite input from the public. That input is called testimony. It can be delivered in written or spoken form, in-person, or virtually.

How does testimony influence policy?

Testimony humanizes the issue and can affect how politicians make decisions. Testimony can also be an opportunity to share a new perspective or point of view, changing how people think about youth justice.

How do I submit testimony in Connecticut?

You can submit testimony in Connecticut in-person in a hearing room, through Zoom, via phone, or online. We’ve got the links you need below.

Say No to New Youth Prisons
