
Justice Advisors:
A group of young leaders that have first and second-hand experience with the youth legal system and a passion for amplifying the voices of youth and children in their communities.
Applications open on Monday, April 1, 2024 for the 2024-2026 Cohort of Justice Advisors.
To join the team, you must:
🟡 Have first or second-hand experience with the justice system
What does that mean?
First-hand experience with the justice system means having experienced court proceedings, probation, incarceration, alternative programs, or community supervision. This experience would give a person close-up knowledge and understanding of the justice system.
Second-hand experience with the justice system means having seen or heard about someone else's experiences, having family involved in the legal system, or studying the legal system in school. This experience is typically had by people who weren’t personally involved in legal proceedings but have gained an understanding through people close to them.
🟡 Be able to dedicate a minimum of 3-4 hours per week
🟡 Commit to orientation (date below)
🟡 Candidates should reside in Connecticut

Because CTJA’s work focuses on the impact of the justice system on youth, we strongly encourage those under the age of 25 to apply. We believe that young people must be centered in the work we do and need a seat at the policy-making table.
