Young people in Connecticut are spending too long in detention. To address that problem, Connecticut plans to build a new locked youth facility. That isn’t a solution, it’s a step backward. 

We fought to close one of Connecticut’s last youth prisons in 2018 — and we won. The state has dramatically reduced youth incarceration since, but building new locked facilities will set us back. Let’s come together again to say NO to the criminalization of our young people.
